Ideas.
Two really struck me & have been percolating (not sure how I feel about them both being Tik-Toks).
Sport.
Went climbing (bouldering) with Dave, Watson, and Aspi. Really good to see them. Had to miss out on a Catan session but it always surprises me how great a workout this is. Played tennis with Simon twice this month, once as singles (dominated) and once as doubles with Katie Kennard and Guy Webb at the Hurlingham - great crew + catch up.
Did some training with Andrea and Aunty Njeri, played footy with Blakey in Elephant and Castle (4 goals in 2 games, not bad) and have been playing our Sunday soccer league. Took Matt and Pascal Davies to the divers cove for some wild swimming (got the train there) which was freezing on a Sunday morning. The night before we had gone for a relaxed little evening to see Gabriel perform three songs at Sofar Sounds - impeccable.
Played tennis with Dan Porter in Finchley, his serve has improved! Absolutely love that sauna afterwards. Played Squash with Billy, arrived super late which he understandably wasn’t best pleased about. Hung with Henry, Melissa, and Lucy Kerr for Tennis plus food in Battersea - we lost! The half marathon in Battersea with Harry Kemble was tough but surprisingly respectable (1:34) given a hearty summer, he is training for the London Marathon. Won the final squash match of the season with Joe Robbins (unhealthy pizza).
Music.
Had the Tribly Music NFT launch with Harrison (trumpet) then hosted a twitter spaces with Jack In The Way, a fun little instagram live of the new songs plus some sales! Played a gig with the band at the Hogs Back Brewery in Farnham, lots of beer. Rosie, Henry Bliss, Simon Moss in attendance. Was quite stressful organising and playing it actually, we did not get the monitors right. It was fascinating speaking to the owner who worked at all levels of the drinks industry and has run the place for 11 years, the festival for 9 years, 2500 in attendance. Made great progress with Ray Charles on Piano (Georgia On My Mind) and Christina Perri on fingerstyle guitar (A Thousand Years).
Social.
Simren hosted dinner the night that the queen passed. Becks Probert and Hugo Rawlinson attended plus met James (her partner) who is a shipping legend and knows Hugo Garland!
Columbia road market with Lou was hearty, haven’t been in ages. I spent some real quality time with Maria and Mila in Norwich which inspired a poem about fondness - really nourishing time with lots of food for thought & growth. Went to a very colourful Carmel engagement party (Sunday in Charlton)!
Family & Work.
Ciru has recovered from surgery and is back to training (building slowly). Dad is in good form and is consistent with Golf. Mum and Wallace had the 15 year anniversary for Storymoja, incredible. I was asked to write articles for VerticalCrypto (haven’t yet) and instead I wrote an article about music (really struggle to write about stuff I’m not inspired by). It was super busy at work covering for two people that were missing (Adrianna quit and Aida went on holiday for two weeks). Briars’ and Rob’s babies have landed, need to go see them + deliver gifts! Prepping for an Italian wedding: Padman!
